Pilot Guides Lonely Planet: Baja California (7 of 18)

Several hours later I did get a lift and headed out of the desert towards one of the most beautiful bays in the world.
Hardly any tourists come to Baja de Los Angeles because the road is rough and there is not many places to stay.
If you love the cactus, if you love, ah, deserts if you love, well just nature, wildlife, whales, birds, things like that, it is fantastic.
It is absolutely beautiful.
I rented a kayak with Francesco who'd given me the ride.
Sea kayaking is one of the most popular activities here.
It 's cheap at $30 a day but sometimes when the weather is bad, there is not much wildlife to see.

Anyhow it is still a good way to spend your time.
Be always a little bit careful if you walk bare feet around here in the sand or the desert because there are lots of rattlesnakes and scorpions around so. . . .
These huts are found all around the coast of Baja.
They are called palapas.
And what is good about them is you just look for one that is empty and doss down in it or you can camp as well.
And sometimes the landlord comes over and charges you a bit of money, and sometimes he doesn't.
Alright? How long are you going to be in there? Six months, seven months.
I'll look for another one.
The people who live by the bay are mainly fishermen.
It is a small and tight knit community.
